A pizza delivery driver was shot in the 5400 block of North East River Road around 12:25 a.m. Monday on the city's Northwest Side.

The 31-year-old man was delivering a pizza to the same apartment house where he lived at 5400 N. East River Road.   When the victim went to deliver the pizza, police say a friend who was waiting in the vehicle, was approached by two men on foot who attempted a robbery.   When the driver came back to the vehicle he was shot in the head.

The 31-year-old pizza delivery driver was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge in critical condition, where he remains.

The passenger was not injured and the offenders fled without taking anything.

Nobody is in custody as Chicago Police continue to look for suspects.
