Get ready to bundle up Chicago, Tom Skilling says the coldest weather we’ve seen in 8 months is headed out way.

We’re headed into a run of significantly below-normal temps starting with falling temps Tuesday.

Skilling says “winter-level temps” could provoke a significant snow across areas of the region to Chicago’s north. He also says the chill will be reminiscent of the “take-hold and almost never let go” of last winter’s chilly weather.

“It’s a bit early to read too much into that in terms of what the coming winter may hold. But, but you can be sure this is something which has caught everyone’s interest in the meteorological community,” Skilling said.

It could be worse.  Minneapolis was hit with its first major storm of the season, triggering a Winter Storm Warning.

They’re expected to be digging out of 12 to 18 inches of snow by Tuesday.
