Suspected serial killer Darren Vann was charged with murder Monday in connection with the deaths of seven women found in Indiana over the weekend and sources tell WGN the case may go beyond the jurisdiction of Lake County Indiana.
43-year-old Vann has told investigators that there may be dozens of more victims; in Indiana, across the state line into Illinois and as far away as Texas and Mexico.
Late Monday night, investigators searched the home on East 50th court on Gary's Southeast side, the home where the alleged killer Vann lived for the past two years.
Authorities say he is very intelligent and very well-read.
He’s also a registered sex offender.
Vann was married but is now divorced. His ex-wife, tells the Sun Times he was served in the U.S marines.
Today, a neighbor, who didn't want his face on camera, told us he was friendly with Vann and that he was a quiet guy.
“He was just an average guy,” the neighbor said. “He was cool. We always talked about women.”
Vann's neighbor says he feels bad for the victims’ families.
Vann first appearance in court could be as soon as Tuesday.
