Chicago Archdiocese to hold rare Saturday news conference
The Archdiocese of Chicago has scheduled a news conference for 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
No other details have been released but after Francis Cardinal George was diagnosed with cancer for the third time in April, he urged the nuncio to launch the search for his successor.
No timetable was set for when his successor would be chosen.
George has served nearly 18 years at the helm of the nation’s third largest archdiocese.
The news conference will be held at Archbishop Quigley Center. WGN-TV will carry the news conference live on WGNtv.com
