Sure many of us may hate the snowy, cold Chicago weather, but the Lincoln Park Zoo’s incoming residents will be a perfect fit for our white winters.
This fall, nine Japanese Macaque’s – aka snow monkeys -will move into the new Regenstein Macaque Forest currently under construction at the Lincoln Park Soo.
Four males and five females will frolic through 7400 feet of outdoor space and another 3500 square feet behind the scenes. The Lincoln Park Zoo is one of only a dozen zoos in the U.S. to care for and study the relatively little known monkeys.
The 15.5 million dollar project is the largest at the zoo in nearly a decade and includes another entrance. Also included is the new train adventure, with a train station, café and outdoor seating, located right next to the snow monkeys.
