Anchors lose it over orchestra’s horrible attempt to play theme song from ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’

In this viral video, a children’s orchestra attempts to play the theme song to “2001: A Space Odyssey,” and it didn’t turn out so well. Hey – at least they tried!

While watching the video, WGN Morning News anchors Larry Potash, Robin Baumgarten and Paul Konrad couldn’t keep it together. Potash laughed so hard he cried.

Hate to burst you bubble but that recording, which isn’t the “Children” is the Portsmith Symphonia, a collective group of very talented and experienced musicians who just decided to switch instruments with just anyone in the band and give it a whirl. This particular track is part of an Album in the same vane. 16 tracks of off key playing of the classics.

Agreed. Definitely Portsmouth Sinfonia’s audio, a British orchestra in the 1970s that included musicians such as Brian Eno and Michael Nyman. One of the rules was that no one could play the instrument they had actually been trained on.

  • who cares?

Bunch of moronic newscasters. Typical liberal ones too, never do any research before opening up their big, stupid mouths. Even if it was children, (which it isn’t) how dare you tell them “they suck” on national TV!!! No YOU SUCK

Congrats you moron of the year recipient. It was humorous. Stop over analyzing everything and just laugh. The guy that said “you suck” is a Republican. Do your research before commenting. Idiot.

They actually were talking about being parents and giving their own kids standing ovations no matter how bad the kids are at playing an instrument. That’s what the “you suck” comment stemmed from. People, pay attention to things before you make rude comments. WGN is great.

I’m with you! It doesn’t even matter to me what the technical name and so forth was, it was humorous. I can see if this was a serious piece but it wasn’t. It was a break from all the murders, attempted rapes and bad news period!
