A baby girl was born along the Edens Expressway.
It happened just before 5 a.m. on the outbound side of the Edens, near Touhy.
Mom, Beth Lynch, said she started having contractions last night but didn't think much about it. She cleaned up the house and went to bed. But they had to leave the house in a hurry early in the morning.
"He’s like, I'm gonna drive fast...so he gets in the car and I’m like I don’t know. He says just don’t push," Beth said.
But that didn't work. Dad, Daniel Lynch, had to pull over and deliver his own baby girl, Mary Margaret.
"You don’t really think about anything other than, don’t drop the baby. I'm just glad everything worked out," Dan said.
Daniel Lynch is a fire paramedic in Evanston. He was off-duty at the time.
Baby and mom were taken to North Shore Evanston Hospital and are doing fine.
Mary Margaret weighed in at 8 lbs. 7 oz.
