Family sues nanny service in connection with child’s death

The parents of a 3-month-old baby girl who died have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the company that helped them find the babysitter charged in the child’s murder.

Nathan and Reggan Koopmeiners of Kenosha are suing the sitter, Sarah Gumm and, a nanny screening service.

They say failed to perform an adequate background check.

The Koopmeiners claim it would have revealed Gumm had a prior criminal record.

Gumm was charged with first-degree murder in the 2012 death of Rylan Koopmeiners.

An autopsy showed the baby suffered a fractured skull.

Gumm’s criminal trial is scheduled to begin next month.
