Quinn signs bill banning smoking at Illinois colleges
All Illinois colleges and universities will soon be smoke free.
Governor Pat Quinn signed the Smoke Free Campus Act into law yesterday.
Indoor and Outdoor smoking will be banned on all state-supported campuses.
Smoking inside a car while driving through campus will still be allowed.
The bill also has exceptions under the Federal American Indian Religious Freedom Act .
The law goes into effect July 1st of next year.
However, some colleges and universities, like the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and UIC in Chicago, already have smoking bans on their campuses.
