The Chicago Police Dept was on hand.
Ferguson may be four hours away from Chicago but it’s only 7 miles from the Illinois state line. Illinois politicians today weighed in on the situation there, especially the confrontations between protestors and police.
“They need to understand those are American citizens and taxpayers on the other side,” said Sen. Mark Kirk. “They should not to treat them like the Taliban or something like that.”
Gov Quinn also spoke about the situation saying, “I think it’s very very important that the people be allowed to voice their feelings. It’s part of the first amendment of our country. I think law enforcement has to respect that.”
