Over the years, the Chicago Football Classic has been a showcase for historically black colleges and universities.
This year will be no different. The sponsors announced they are bringing the classic back to be played once again at Soldier Field.
Facing off in this year's classic will be Morehouse College of Atlanta and Central State University of Wilberforce, Ohio. The game will give the teams a chance to raise money for the schools through ticket sales and raffles.
"People want to see the positive. They want to see the good kids doing good things. Support them, affirm them, stand with them, get excited about them. I think that's what we saw and for the past week, I think that's what we see with the football classic. People saying, wow, we're proud of our kids," said social activist and Catholic priest Father Michael Pfleger.
Sponsors also hope that the classic will encourage young minority men and women to go to college.
The game will be held, Saturday, September 20. Kickoff is at 3 p.m.
