A woman died in a two-car crash that shut down part of I-57 Tuesday morning in South Suburban Matteson.
Authorities confirm 44-year-old Lynetta Shorter was driving a mini-van when she collided with another driver at Route 30.
She and her five children were inside her car at 2:15 a.m. when she was rear ended. She had left a revival at a West Side church in Chicago that ran late. Shorter was going to pick up her kids to take them home. She was wearing her seatbelt and she was the only one seriously hurt. Her kids, ages 8-13 had only minor cuts and bruises.
The driver of the second vehicle was also not seriously hurt.
Investigators are looking into alcohol and speed as contributing factors in the crash that closed all lanes of I-57 until 6:30 a.m. They continue to investigate the accident.
