Flooding cleanup underway after traffic snarled, homes damaged

Pounding rains Monday night caused flooding issues throughout the Chicago area.

Along the Eisenhower, the ripple effects of the flooding and rush hour traffic continued this afternoon.

The inbound Ike was closed between 25th Ave east to Harlem since last night's stormy deluge left it water logged. Then a pavement collapse happened.

All lanes finally reopened shortly after 3:30 this afternoon.

In nearby suburban Bellwood, the cleanup is underway as well.

Areas are prone to flooding in the past kept their promise to do the same in this latest downpour.

Residents were left to once again cleanup and repair their homes and yards.
