Thunderstorms have developed this afternoon across portions of north and central Cook County as a warm and unstable air mass interacts with an approaching cold front and a westward-moving lake breeze.

The National Weather Service has issued a urban and small stream flood advisory for north central Cook County and southeastern Lake County until 730 p.m. tonight.

Downpours could cause ponding of water on area  roads and cause flooding of low-lying areas.
