The latest dangerous social media dare is leaving children burned after they set themselves on fire.
The so-called “Fire Challenge” involves pouring rubbing alcohol on one’s chest, then igniting it before dousing the flames in a shower.
Needless to say, the dousing doesn’t always happen quickly enough.
The mother of 14-year-old Micheal Symonette of Crosby, Texas, was beside herself that her son would try it.
“It’s not fun. It’s not funny, it’s not cute,” Stephanie Palmer said. “I don’t understand why they would want to do it. And now he’s having second degree burns and he’s in pain.”
So far, three cases of burns have been reported to teens in Texas and Kentucky.
