Amy's Tips:

Sort It Out –
Before shopping, check your school’s web site for info about room set-up and furnishings, along with a list of items prohibited in student housing.  It’s also smart to coordinate with your roommate to avoid buying duplicate items.

Make It Up –
While sleeping is the last thing on your mind, you’ll need some shut-eye between classes and parties.  A bed bug mattress protector is the perfect first layer for dorm beds that have been used for years.   Check with your school to see if you need twin extra-long sheets, and top it all off with a stylish bed-in-a-bag that gives you the biggest bang for your buck and enables you to express your personal style.

Raise It Up – Think vertically.
Create extra storage underneath the bed with bed lifts that raise the bed off the floor and allow you to store extra linens, sports equipment and other gear out of sight.  Hanging closet organizers maximize the use of space and enable you to organize more sweaters, shoes and other clothing and accessories.  A shelving unit that fits over the bed provides additional shelf space for gadgets, books and more.

Gear Up –
Take cool gadgets that are versatile and help you study effectively.  Power bed lifts increase under-bed storage and provide extra power and USB outlets, while a stylish speaker ottoman  provides seating and great sound.  Protect the thousands of dollars in electronics you take to college with a surge protector power strip.

Pick It Up –
Let someone else do the packing!  Stores have a free service that lets you shop locally, but pick up your items at the store closest to college – saving you the time and expense of packing and transporting your gear.
