Two people were killed and three others left in critical condition in overnight shootings on the South and Southwest sides, according to police.
The most recent shooting happened under the awning of a Citgo gas station at 116th Street and Michigan Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood.
Someone shot a man here about 3:15 a.m. Police found him dead. No one is in custody. Earlier, about 9:20 p.m., a 16-year-old boy was killed inside a first-floor apartment in the Marquette Park neighborhood. Someone fired a single shot into an apartment from the street below and hit the boy in his neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
Relatives at the scene identified him as Darren Foggey, 16. No one is in custody, police said. A shooting in the Fuller Park neighborhood about 9 p.m. left two teens and a 21-year-old in critical condition. The shooting occurred on the 4300 block of South Princeton Avenue, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.
A 16-year-old boy was taken to Comer Children's Hospital with a wound to his abdomen, another 16-year-old boy was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a wound to his right armpit, and a 21-year-old man was taken to Stroger hospital with a wound to his right foot and left thigh.
