UPDATED: Girl, 9, missing from Hermosa neighborhood found safe

Update: Emily Rivera, 9, has been found safe.

A nine-year-old girl was reported missing after leaving school Friday afternoon.

Emily Rivera, 9, had last been seen when she left Nixon Elementary School at 12:30 p.m. to walk home to the 2300 block of North Kenneth Avenue.

She is 4-foot-8 and weighs 110 pounds with brown hair and eyes and olive skin. She was wearing an orange shirt and navy blue capri pants and carrying a small “High School Musical” purse.

The Chicago Police Area North Special Victims Unit asks anyone with information to call (312) 744-8200.

  • Can not understand why

    I can not understand why a 9 year old was walking home or around the streets of Chicago unaccompanied without an adult. Just don’t get it.
