Executive order ends discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity
President Barack Obama is expected to sign an executive order Monday barring federal contractors from discriminating based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
The new order has no new exemptions for religiously-affiliated contractors.
They will still be allowed to make hiring decisions based on a person’s faith. However, those employers cannot discriminate based on sexual orientation.
The new rules will affect an estimated 24,000 companies along with 8 million employees.
