Police are searching for two suspects who reportedly robbed several CTA passengers at gunpoint.

Police say the robberies occurred around 4pm on the Orange Line train as the train was between the Halsted and Roosevelt stop.

The suspects reportedly boarded the train car and announced an armed robbery, police said.

They robbed several people and fled with items when the train arrived at the Roosevelt stop, police said.

The CTA did not make a statement other than to say it's a "police matter."

Anyone with information for police regarding the suspects is asked to call Area Central Detectives at 312-747-8380.

Gun free zone are great targets for criminals.

Let’s all thank the idiot politicians who worked to put a CCW ban on public transportation and schools your families are open targets for the criminals. Signs and laws don’t turn away criminals.

  • Opie

Wow, So tempted to disagree with BO just because it seems PC but I share the viewpoint. Making law abiding citizens (you know the ones that vote sometimes) soft targets isn’t a good move. It just doesn’t sit well. There must be military families all around this city thinking, “Damn, I had no problem defending our country but my state has a problem with me protecting my family”.

  • Welcome To Chicago

Welcome To The Wild Wild West.
I agree with Bo, you know.
The bottom dollar line is this, the city, mayor, police chief & undermanned police themselves cannot protect you or your family at this time.
I wish it was not true but it is.
So there you have it, all I can hope for is that the police and criminal court system are sympathetic to the law abiding citizens as they start taking back their city. Shame on you Mr Mayor. Their was a Spanish lady on that train who said in a news report everybody sat quiet and no one did nothing, she said she started telling those 2 armed robbers that their are just as poor people on the train as they are.
They replied to her by pistol whipping her in the face. Sad, Sad, Sad.
That’s why I agree with Bo, if the criminals knew that anybody anywhere and more than one person could be carrying a fire arm and could detain or dispatch them, I think they would somewhat abstain from some of this.

Forget detain! If someone threatens you with a weapon: SHOOT THEM!!! If criminals think they can get away with just a warning, that’s no deterrent to them, they will do it again. Not to mention, if someone is using a weapon or you are in danger of great harm, you have every right to use deadly force without giving some nonsense warning…. at least you have the right to in my state, where there are still common sense laws!*

*not implying that your state has no common sense laws, just that I’m not certain of what the law regarding this is in your state.
