A group of shoppers prevented what could have been another tragic occurrence of a child dying in a hot car.

According to KHOU, a group of shoppers in Katy, Texas, saw two kids sitting alone in a parked car Monday.

“The kids were in there crying,” said Gabriel Del Valle, who works at a shop near the scene and took video of the incident. “I mean you would understand. It’s real hot.”

The group tried to free the children by smashing the windows with a hammer, which took several minutes. The children were unharmed.

The mother claimed she temporarily left the kids in the car while she got a haircut and said she made a terrible mistake.

No one called the police.

Haircuts are not fast! She should have found a sitter or brought then in with her. I have little kids, and always wait till someone can watch them if I wanted to run an errand by myself.

I agree with john Osborn, I would have definitely called police. I approached a foreigner who had left a baby and a five year old in the car and asked her why she did it and she said that she can do anything she wants, that’s when I told her , in this country you can’t. Saw her again a few days later trying to do the same thing again at the same store. I was coming out of the store and she was coming in, I looked in the car, the children were in the car again, I told her I was going to get my car , block her car from getting out of the parking lot until the police came. Needless to say, she got the kids out of the car and took them with her.The most valuable things we have in our lives are our children, apparently some people don’t think the same way I do

VerI watched the story about the trucking people. My father, brother both drove. I worked for a truck co for 24 yrs before I left. I never heard anything about problems. The only problem is that my brother drove over hishours

This story REALLY needs correction, surveillance video showed that the Mom took her kids IN the store with her, she stopped at a Mailbox store, the kids were with her…she was strapping them in the car, and accidentally locked her keys in the car. She ran back in the store and asked for help…and she asked the man to break her window, that was her climbing in the truck to open the windows. All of the employees verified this as well as surveillance video, that is why no one called the cops…this guy on here just didn’t know what was going on.
