Illinois residents turned down for concealed carry gun permits will now get more information about why their application was rejected.

The Illinois State Police announced Monday it will require a state review board to release the information after a flood of lawsuits filed by applicants who were denied permits.

The new rules also require the board to notify an applicant if their application is likely to be rejected and give them an opportunity to refute the objection.
