Surprise Jennifer Hudson performance cancelled, rest of festival to go on as planned

hudsonJennifer Hudson was expected to give a surprise performance at the Chosen Few Old School Reunion Picnic, Chicago’s biggest one-day music festival, but it has been cancelled.

The rest of the acts at the festival, nicknamed the “Woodstock of House Music,” are still on from 6 a.m. – 8 p.m. in Jackson Park.

More than 50,000 are expected for the lakefront music festival that includes a Frankie Knuckles tribute a surprise performances by Ann Nesby.

This event is organized by the Chosen Few DJs, a DJ collective that was part of the first wave of DJs and producers in Chicago who created the house music sound.

It is now one of the largest dance music events in the world.

The DJs include Wayne Williams, Jesse Saunders, Alan King, Tony Hatchett, Andre Hatchett, Terry Hunter and Mike Dunn.

Jennifer Hudson, whose performance was scheduled to take place at 4:30 p.m., has worked with Chosen Few DJs Terry Hunter and Wayne Williams, who produced her latest song “It’s Your World.”
