Daley cites medical issues to avoid testimony

Former Mayor Richard Daley is claiming a medical hardship to avoid testifying about a controversial restaurant deal in Millennium Park.

The Emanuel administration claims a 30-year lease the Daley administration worked out with the owners of the Park Grill was a sweetheart deal that cheated taxpayers out of millions of dollars in revenue.

The City of Chicago is suing to break that lease, and lawyers for the Park Grill subpoenaed Daley.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports Daley's lawyers wouldn't specify the medical problem that makes him unable to testify, but the former mayor suffered a stroke  in January.
