Swim ban lifted at most Chicago beaches

A swim ban that was put into effect Tuesday has now been lifted at most Chicago beaches.

The swim ban remains in effect for Montrose Beach, Oak Street Beach and South Shore Beach. A swim advisory is in effect at Humboldt Beach.

The ban was initially put into effect after Monday’s storms forced sewage and stormwater into local waterways and Lake Michigan, and city officials had to open the locks separating the lake from the Chicago River system.
