A California couple was arrested Wednesday after police allegedly found their autistic son living in a dog cage in the home.
The 11-year-old boy cannot speak.
Anaheim police were called to the home along with child protective services who received a tip the boy was living inside a cage, KTLA reports.
Police discovered what was described as a “large dog kennel” which contained a mattress.
KTLA reports the boy was prone to outbursts because of his autism and police said the parents had “difficulty adapting to” and controlling the outbursts.
Police said the boy appeared clean and to have been well cared for otherwise.
The parents were arrested and booked on suspicion of felony child endangerment and false imprisonment.
