Several people had to be rescued after a high rise apartment building went up in flames early this morning
The fire broke out in the five-story apartment building near Washington and Central in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.
Five people were rescued, and one resident had to jump from his apartment to get away from the flames.
There are unconfirmed reports that a child was dropped from the top floor of the building … and was caught.
A couple of those injured are in serious condition. About two dozen people have to find somewhere else to live.
The cause of fire is unknown.
