Police shoot and injure a man overnight on city’s west side

A Chicago police officer shot and injured a man overnight on the city’s west side.

It happened at about 12:30 this morning near Monroe and Cicero the west Garfield park neighborhood.

Police officers heard several gunshots and saw a car speeding away.

When they tried to stop the car, the passenger got out and ran off.

Investigators say the man then turned and pulled out a gun.

One of the officers shot the man in the leg.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No officers were injured in the shooting.
