Chicago police are hoping surveillance video will help them track down a person who left a gun on a CTA bus before it went off and wounded a woman on board.
It happened on the number 47 bus around 6:30 Wednesday morning near 47th and Kildare on the Southwest Side.
CTA officials say the gun was sitting on a seat and fell onto the floor of the bus.
They say a male passenger who was traveling with the victim picked it up, thinking it was a toy or a lighter.
He accidentally fired the gun, hitting a vent below a row of seats.
A bullet fragment grazed the woman’s left hip.
Guns are not allowed on CTA under the state’s new concealed carry law.

Traffic is backed up all the way to cicero !!

But I thought public transportation was a “gun free zone” according to the IL CCW law? Why is there a gun on the bus? Is it possible that criminals don’t follow the laws? I can’t believe it. I guess gun laws don’t apply to criminals then
Frank
The gun didn’t “accidentally discharge”. An idiot that didn’t know squat about guns, picked it up and pulled the trigger.

” the .22 caliber metal and wood gun is about 3 inches long metal” what does that even describe?

another reason why gun safety should be part of general public education.

There is no such thing as an accidental discharge. The who found apparently can’t tell a real gun from a toy. He pulled the trigger. Idiot.

I believe they are talking about a HOMEMADE gun, like what was known as a zip gun years ago, using a piece of auto antenna, and some wood and few other things. It was NOT a storebought gun or something that would be carried by a law abiding citizen.
