CHICAGO – June 25, 2014–Courtney Gousman, a Chicago native, is joining WGN News as a general assignment reporter effective on July 9, 2014, according to Interim News Director Jennifer Lyons. She will be reporting on the WGN News evening newscasts.
Prior to WGN News, Gousman was a reporter and fill-in anchor at WBBM-TV in Chicago. She has previously worked in St. Louis at KSDK-TV, where she was nominated for a Midwest Emmy and won a Missouri Broadcaster’s Award, and in Evansville, Ind. at WEHT-TV. She also reported for KRCG-TV in Jefferson City, MO, and WMAR-TV/WHOV-FM in Baltimore, MD. She started her career in broadcasting as an intern at WXYZ-TV in Detroit and CLTV in Chicago.
Ms. Gousman received her B.S. in Journalism at Hampton University, Scripps-Howard School of Journalism. She is a member of the NABJ, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Gousman is the daughter of a Chicago policeman and graduate of Whitney Young High School.
