CTA service back to normal after minor derailment in the Loop
CTA train service in the Loop is back to normal this morning after a minor train derailment.
A set of wheels from a northbound Orange Line train came off the elevated tracks on Van Buren near LaSalle Street at about 6:45 P.M. Tuesday.
The derailment caused nearly 100 metal clips and pieces of wood to fall onto the street below.
No one was hurt by the falling debris but the Orange, Pink, Green and Brown line trains were all stopped in the Loop.
CTA crews worked overnight to repair the track and service resumed on all train lines at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.
