Man saves baby from crawling onto highway
A Georgia man saved a baby from ending up on the highway after seeing her crawling through the woods.
Bryant Collins was on the highway working as an auto repairman when he saw a baby on the side of the road. He called 911 and stayed with the 15-month-old girl until emergency crews arrived.
“The baby started crying,” Collins said. “So I turned my phone on and let her listen to some gospel music, and she calmed right down.”
The baby had crawled 300 yards from its home through the woods, almost onto the highway. She did not suffer any injuries.
“That’s almost a miracle that a 15-month-old can go that far from her house, into the woods, fall down an embankment, wind up near a major highway and really not get hurt that bad,” Madison County Sheriff Kip Thomas said.
Police arrested the baby’s father, Timothy Pickens, and are investigating the mother as well.
