stats_logo_400x225* There have been three managers in history – all active – who played for the Marlins in their playing days. Two of three are meeting tonight, Mike Redmond and Ricky Renteria.

*The Marlins lead the majors with 23 games decided in the last at-bat. Their record is 12-11 in those games. The Cubs have 12 games decided in their last at-bat, which is tied for the fewest in the majors. They arjust 4-8 in those games. The Marlins’ 12 last-AB wins are tied with Milwaukee for the most in the majors.

* Cubs’ pitcher Travis Wood was the hero in extra innings last night, delivering what turned out to be the game-winning hit. The only other time a Cubs pitcher had a game-winning RBI in extra innings since 1974 was July 20, 1989, when Les Lancaster had the game-winning RBI in the 11th inning against the Giants.

* Miami’s Casey McGehee has managed to rank tied for fourth in the National League in RBI at this stage of the season, despite just hitting one home run.
