Governor Pat Quinn has signed a new law banning police ticket quotas.

The new law prevents police departments from assigning officers a specific number of tickets to issue in a given period of time.

It also stops agencies from comparing police officers based on how many tickets they write.

Governor Quinn says the law will allow police to use their own judgment in deciding whether to ticket a driver.
