See ya later alligator: Authorities find reptile during eviction
Broken futon? Maybe. Three-legged table? It’s possible.
When listing the items that authorities may find during an eviction, an alligator does not usually come to mind.
But that’s exactly what Cook County Sheriff’s Eviction Unit deputies found this morning.
Authorities were enforcing a court-ordered eviction around 8:30 a.m. in the 8200 block of South Vernon Ave on in the city’s Chatham neighborhood when they discovered a 13-inch alligator.
According to a statement from the sheriff’s dept, the alligator was in an aquarium tank in the idining room.
They called Animal Control to take care of it.
The owner was not charged.
No injuries to the deputies or the alligator were reported.
