Man attempts to kill woman for looking happy in Brighton Park
A man from the Southwest Side is accused of trying to kill a woman because she was too happy.
25-year-old Jessie White is being held without bond on charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery.
Police say he walked up to a woman and her daughter outside a church in the Brighton Park neighborhood and said to the mother “I’m going to kill you.”
He held a knife to her throat and the girl hit him with her backpack before running to get help.
White dragged the woman to an empty coachhouse and began beating her.
The husband arrived and stopped the attack.
Police say White told them he was angered by the woman’s apparent happiness.
