Why was Hugh Jackman hopping at the Tonys?

Monday, we showed you the highlights of Broadway’s Tony Awards from New York hosted by Hugh Jackman.

One of the highlights of the show was how Jackman opened the proceedings – jumping and hopping from outside of Radio City Music Hall into the theater and then all over it.

Lots of us wondered about such a random performance but thanks to some of you super-movie fans out there, we learned that it was all an homage to a scene from a 1953 film starring actor, Bobby Van.

It’s called the “Take Me to Broadway” number from the movie, “Small Town Girl” that starred Bobby Van doing this famous hopping sequence through the town that Jackman saluted.
