The Western-Belmont viaduct, which has directed cars over a five-way intersection for the past 52 years, will be coming down in 2015.
This according to a plan unveiled Monday night by the Chicago Department of Transportation.
The deteriorating bridge will be replaced with a ground-level intersection.
The construction is expected to last 18 to 24 months starting in the spring of 2015.
CDOT plans to point drivers to alternate routes along Ashland, Diversey and Logan Blvd. during construction.
