SB Dan Ryan lanes reopen after crash involving bus, dump truck
A crash involving a truck and a bus caused a lot of headaches for commuters on the Dan Ryan Expressway Tuesday.
At about 3:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes at 95th Street, a truck hauling recycled paper lost control, hit the wall and then hit a school bus, which careened into a semi.
The bus was carrying special needs adults.
The paper from the truck flew everywhere and caused the Dan Ryan to shut down for clean up.
The shutdown lasted for nearly three hours and caused a 12-mile backup from 95th north to the Circle Interchange.
Thirty-eight people were taken to four area hospitals, including Roseland Community and Little Company of Mary.
Most of the injured were riding the school bus. The group of special needs adults were on their way back to south suburban Robbins.
None of the injuries are serious.
Several WGN viewers are sharing photos of the crash on social media.
