CDC: Illinois man didn’t have MERS
A man from Illinois didn’t have MERS after all.
Health officials thought the man contracted Middle Eastern Resiratory Syndrome after a business meeting with a man who traveled to Saudi Arabia.
After more blood tests, the Centers for Disease Control said the man was never infected.
They said the blood tests may have reacted with the antibodies that were already in his system from a previous, but similar infection.
Only two cases of MERS have been found in the U.S.
