The Chicago City Council is considering a new effort to control the sale of guns in the city.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants to limit the places where gun shops may operate.

At a police awards ceremony, the mayor said his plan would outlaw any gun store within 500 feet of a school or park; and all gun buyers would have to be recorded on video making their purchases.

The Supreme Court has given the city until July 14th to enact any new limits on gun sales.

Critics say, if the mayor’s new plan is too restrictive, the courts could strike it down again.

The ordinance will be pushed to committee and likely won’t come up for a vote until next month.

Also at City Hall today, labor activists are hoping for faster action in raising Chicago’s minimum wage to $15 an hour.

Supports argue the $10 push already being considered by state lawmakers isn’t enough because the cost of living is far higher in Chicago.

The current minimum wage in Illinois is $8.25 an hour.

Another item on the agenda, an ordinance to regulate the ride-sharing industry.

Rahm, until you get most of the illegal guns off the street, which you probably won't, what is wrong with a non felon law abiding homeowner buying a pistol in chicago to protect their family from the thugs?! You're cracked on this one. A felon has availability to purchase one off the street , he won't go to a shop anyhow!!

Gun control and minimum wage, two things the city has no right to force down people's throats in a free society.

  • Seriously

Ever get the feeling that it is the government that supplies the criminals with guns? Like Holder was caught doing.
