This Memorial Day weekend, a group of teachers, parents and students took time to remember the 50 CPS schools that were affected in the massive closures last year.

Organizers hosted a neighborhood schools picnic at McKinley Park today. Along with a program to honor the 50 closed schools, the event provided a fun-filled afternoon of food, games and entertainment for students.

Parents from across the city showed their support for those who were affected by the closures.

Fifty balloons with the names of the closed schools were released as part of the program.
