Bullpen Fails Danks as White Sox Fall to Yankees

The Chicago White Sox appeared poised to continue their unlikely home mastery over the Yankees Saturday afternoon at U.S. Cellular Field.

John Danks stifled the Yankees on three hits and no runs over eight innings in front of 33,413. But reliever Ronald Belisario took over in the ninth and gave up three runs and the game went into extra innings.

An RBI double by Alfonso Soriano and a run-scoring single by Yangervis Solarte made it 3-2. After Ichiro Suzuki drew a walk, Brian McCann singled in the tying run.

The Yankees took their 4-3 lead in the 10th inning on a two-out homer by Jacoby Ellsbury off reliever Zach Putnam.

The White Sox jumped out to 3-0 lead in first inning. An RBI double by Dayan Viciedo, a sacrifice fly by Adam Dunn and RBI ground out by Ramirez did the trick.

Sox manager Robin Ventura was ejected in the second inning. Marcus Semien opened the inning with a base hit. Adrian Nieto followed with a single, but was caught in a run-down between first and second. Nieto eluded a tag near second and initially was called safe. When Yankees manager Joe Girardi protested that Nieto was out of the baseline to avoid the tag, the umpires changed their call and Nieto was ruled out.

Ventura was ejected for the first time this season while protesting. It was the eighth ejection of his managing career.
