Apps for the perfect Memorial Day BBQ

Memorial Day is right around the corner, and since the weather forecast is looking alright, lots of people will probably be hosting barbecues.

Here are some apps to ensure your BBQ goes off without a hitch.

The Pit Pal BBQ

Free for iOs and Android

The Pit Pal BBQ app — which launched its iOS version just in time for this summer’s grilling season — is for barbecue pros. Use the app to track common BBQ variables such as temperature and duration of the cook, type of wood used, weather conditions and sauce/rub combination. Keeping track of these variables allows chefs to tweak their cooks until they’re just right. The $1.99 version of the temperature charts and “Stoker Support” — you know, a BBQ help line!

Omaha Steaks Steak Time app

Free for iOs and Android

You don’t have to be cooking an Omaha Steak to use this excellent app. The Omaha Steak Time app features dozens of recipes as well as an easy-t0-use Grill Timer, which you can set based on the thickness and Doneness. The app also features dozens of recipes

DrinkFly

Free for iOS and Android

Based in Downers Grove, Ill., DrinkFly is the perfect app to have downloaded on your phone in case you run out of liquor at your Memorial Day. The app’s founders work with local liquor stores to get drinks delivered to your doorstep. Type in your address and the DrinkFly will tell you which businesses near by are available for pick up or delivery in your area. Place your order and the items will be delivered to you in 60 minutes or less.

BBQ TankMeter – Grill Gauge

Free for Android

This app acoustically measures the amount of propane in a standard 20 pound tank and graphically displays the results. Hit the tank with a  hard object, like a quarter, and the app will listen and tell you how much propane is left in the tank. I haven’t tried the app personally, but in the Google Play store, the app has 4.5 out of 5 stars and rave reviews.
