Young teen makes her way through hundreds of U.S. national parks
Aida Frey was just 10-years-old when she was bitten by the national park bug.
That sparked an endeavor which has already taken the now 13-year old Algonquin teen to 163 national parks, more than half of the 401 in the United States.
Aida and her mom and dad have driven cross country to see some of the U.S.’s most beautiful spots, along the way picking up badges, patches and pins from different locale’s– an ensemble now weighing about 15 pounds..
Their efforts haven’t gone unnoticed.
Aida has become an unofficial spokesperson for the national parks. She recently became part of the park experience at the Indiana Dunes.
Aida says her journey to all 400 parks will probably take at least a few more years, but she’s making great contacts along the way.
Someday she is hoping to turn that fun, into her lifelong career, by becoming the director of the national park service.
