Winter-like weather just won’t leave us alone.
Snowfall came down in the west and northwest suburbs on Friday right smack in the middle of May.
There was snow in spots like Barrington, Hoffman Estates, Crystal Lake, Cary, Algonquin, and West Dundee.
“It’s terrible. I’m ready for summer if it ever gets here. I mean we’re a week away from Memorial Day weekend, and we’re still in the 30 degrees. So, I’m over it,” said one person.
The last time it snowed in May in the Chicago area was in 2005. The latest snow in Chicago was June 2, 1910.
Chilly temperature that are 17 degrees normal, and spotty showers will continue Friday.
The pockets of rain will become more scattered in the afternoon, but temperatures will remain much cooler than average. Highs today are expected to range from 47-51 degrees with the coolest temps near the lake.
It should be dry and quiet tonight with partly cloudy skies and lows in the upper 30s.
Saturday will bring a mixture of clouds and sun and there is a chance for more widely scattered showers as afternoon highs reach the upper 50s.
Sunday is forecast to be dry with partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-60s. Cooler temperatures are expected near the lake.
