An Army staff sergeant, who once lived in the Chicago’s northwest suburbs, was killed in Kosovo.
Sgt. Heidi Ruh was found dead at a running track on Friday.
She was shot and killed in a non-combat related incident that’s under investigation.
Ruh was assigned to the first medical brigade at Fort Hood and was deployed to Kosovo in January.
She last lived in Barrington, Illinois about eight years ago.
Her family in Wisconsin says they found out about her death last friday, but they weren’t told much else.
“Worse part was when we thought our worries were over, you know, when she was going to a non-hostile area,” said her father Scott Ruh. “And then she was only there a couple months.”
