Person questioned in fatal shooting of boy, 15, in West Pullman
Police are questioning a person of interest in the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy Sunday afternoon in the West Pullman neighborhood.
Vaughn Holeman was shot around 3:40 p.m. in the 200 block of West 116th Street, only about five blocks from his home.
He was on the street when a car drove past and shots rang out. Witnesses thought the boy might have been hit by someone firing from the passing car.
But officers took into custody an older boy who was with Holeman and who may have shot the younger boy while firing at the car.
Holeman was shot in the chest and under the arm and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 4:30 p.m.
A total of 23 people were shot across the city between 6 p.m. Friday and midnight Sunday, four of them fatally, according to a Chicago police spokesman.
