A dog living in an animal shelter once stood a very slim chance of being adopted until volunteers turned her disability into just the right fit for one family.

Rosie is a 3year-old pit bull who is also deaf.

A volunteer at the humane society in Grand Island, Neb. decided to teach Rosie sign language.

Basic commands like sit, down, stay, outside, and walk — Rosie knows them all!

Rosie has now been adopted by Cindy Koch, who said is also deaf.Dog

“Because I’m deaf and we want to relate to her, and understand how she feels – want to communicate with her through signing, teach her signing,” Koch said.

The Koch family already knows sign language, so learning Rosie’s signs will be easy and they plan on teaching her more.

I am a little disappointed, and wondering why Chicago Own WGN would share a video report 'Deaf woman adopts deaf dog that knows sign language' / and the video is not CC for deaf & hearing impaired people?
