Chicagoland cleans up after Mother’s Day storms whip through area
Storms whipped through the Chicago area Sunday evening causing wind and flooding damage.
Raging flood waters from those storms may have caused an explosion in a Deep Tunnel pipeline.
Residents in Calumet City say they heard a loud noise, like an airplane, and when they looked out their apartment window, they saw an explosion last night that sent water, sand and rocks shooting at least fifteen feet into the air.
No one was injured.
Calumet City crews were on the scene Sunday night and remained there Monday morning.
